Stock markets are closed during major U.S. holidays. This can also affect extended hours and pre-market trading hours. U.S. holidays are New Year's Day; Martin Luther King, Jr. Day; Presidents' Day; Good Friday; Memorial Day; Juneteenth; Independence Day; Labor Day; Thanksgiving Day; and Christmas Day.
The market also has early closings on the day before Independence Day and on Christmas Eve (if those days fall on a weekday), as well as on the day after Thanksgiving.

No. The U.S. stock market does not open and close at the same time every day. While its regular hours are Monday through Friday, from 9:30 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. ET, it's closed on major holidays and weekends and may close early on certain days surrounding some holidays.
Yes. The stock market is open on the Friday after Thanksgiving, but with an early closing time of 1:00 p.m. ET. Both the New York Stock Exchange (NYSE) and Nasdaq operate with these shorter hours. The markets will be closed on Thursday for Thanksgiving Day itself.
The cutoff time for regular stock trading is 4:00 p.m. ET. This is when the regular trading session for major U.S. exchanges like the NYSE and Nasdaq closes. After this time, orders can be entered but won't be routed to the market until the next trading day unless they are placed in extended hours trading sessions.
